The building that hosts Treehouse is collectively a design and sustainable business incubator. Al Atarra, the owner of the building, launched this 45,000 square-foot space to encourage interaction and collaboration between designers, architects, and educators. The 7 story building will have 5 floors ocupied by designers and entreprenuers leading the next generation of sustainable business. The first floor is being developed into a sustainable food service, and the second floor gallery will be available for public events, forums and exhibitions. Currently under construction is an accessible green rooftop with productive gardens. 33 Flatbush Avenue will be a model of a energy-efficient and environmentally responsible building in Brooklyn from the operations of the building to the activities of the inhabitants.

Planted on 4th floor of the 33 Flatbush Avenue, EcoSystems is an environmental design and consulting group that creates products, systems, and services for a healthy planet. Our neighbors on the 5th floor host a similar space focused on green start up companies. They have everything from carbon trading to fair trade coffee and sustainable fishing. Green space was founded by Jennie Nevin and Marissa Feinberg, creators of one of the first green educational networking groups in New York City, the Green Business Leaders. Green Business Leaders brings together a diverse group of leaders in New York that are committed to the sustainable movement. Guests and partners have included Whole Foods, Environment Furniture, The Rainforest Alliance, The Gaia Institute, and Green Map Systems, among others.

Planted on 6th floor, The Metropolitan Exchange (MEx) is an architecture, urban planning, and research cooperative. MEx is made up of design professionals, developers, and scholars who come together to collaborate on architecture and planning projects, pursue development opportunities, and sponsor lectures, film screenings and exhibitions. They are all geniuses, working on macro scale planet saving projects.
